I am a yogi, a yoga teacher, a photographer, the founder of the LoveMore Movement. I’m an Intermediate-level student of Somatic Experiencing®, a community partner in the Yoga and Body Image Coalition, an Accessible Yoga Ambassador, an Embody Love Movement Inner Beauty Shop facilitator, a writer, and a practitioner of the dharma. That’s a mouthful, but what it boils down to is this: “I contain multitudes.” (see Song of Myself for complete Walt Whitman poem!)
Service runs through me like energy through my veins. I learned this about service from a very young age, watching my beautiful grandmother, Roslyn, go to Cuernavaca in the early ’80s for a Spanish immersion program which would help her better reach her kindergartners in Pacoima, CA. Teaching is that way for me: an opportunity to share this transformative practice with as many people as possible.
I intimately understand the power of the contemplative practices and how much they can heal our hearts and minds. My direct experience with anxiety and trauma have been a fertile ground to experience the benefits of yoga, meditation, and Somatic Experiencing® as active trauma healing modalities.
I integrate Somatic Experiencing® techniques into my teaching, guiding each person toward a more resilient nervous system with more capacity to hold what arises.
I have found emotional freedom and the ability to love myself through the practices of yoga, meditation and SE™. I have found the courage to speak the truth through my writing. It was on my mat where I learned how to safely climb back into my body; it was on paper where I found my wings and learned how to fly. I seek flexibility in our hearts and in our thinking more than the flexibility in the body.
